RWD and FWD Hotrods Rules

FORMULA – HOT-RODS (Front & Rear wheel drive) RULES:

Formula.FWD Group Number Allocation: 200 - 249
Formula.RWD Group Number Allocation: 250 - 299

Driver age group: 16 years of age & over

Front wheel: Engine Capacity: up to 2300 cc
(Engines with Multi-valve & fuel injection allowed, & must remain in original engine bay - NO Turbo’s).

Rear wheel: Engine Capacity: up to 2300 cc
(Allowed; to covert front wheel to rear wheel drive. Engines must remain in original engine bay, NOT allowed; multi-valve, fuel injection or Turbo’s)

This is a non contact Formula racing in a clockwise direction. Contact, blocking & holding up faster cars is not allowed & may result is being penalised.

ALL plastic (including bumpers), glass, trim, carpets, passenger seats & the steering lock MUST be removed.

We suggest, STRONGLY ADVISE for dashboards to be removed.

The Drivers seat must be securely bolted into position & MUST have a head rest.

A 4 post roll cage MUST be used (see diagram) & be securely bolted to floor by at least 2 bolts per foot-plate.

A sealed metal fuel tank not exceeding 10ltrs MUST be fixed securely inside the car, not within the engine or boot areas. The tank MUST have an overflow & a return pipe if the car is fuel-injected. All fuel pipe connections MUST be secured by jubilee type clips.

The original fuel tank is to be removed or be visibly punctured.

The radiator should be fitted to the rear of the car behind the driver & must be shelved. All water pipe connections MUST be secured by jubilee type clips.

The battery should be securely clamped into place inside the car, not within the engine or boot areas, & covered by leak-proof material.

An Isolator/cut-out switch MUST be fitted to the front scuttle pan & have clear ON/OFF markings. ALL the electrical system MUST be through this switch.

ALL doors, boot lids & tail gates MUST be strapped, bolted or welded securely shut. Welding is restricted to doors & boots (2” weld with 6” gap). Glass sun-roof’s are to be removed & replaced or covered by a metal sheet bolted or welded into place.

The Bonnet is to be secured by 2 securing quick release type pins.

A mesh grill is to be fitted within the windscreen aperture.

A quick release webbing type window net must be fitted in the driver’s door window aperture.

No additional iron work to be fitted to the car what so ever.

A minimum of 2x 21watt brake lights working through the brake pedal must be fitted to the rear of the car on the rear parcel shelf, so fully visible to any drivers behind.

Vehicle body to remain as produced by manufacture with arches over the wheels (No cut wings, etc).

Mud & Snow tyres acceptable on wheels that MUST be as per fitted by the manufacture.

Any tow-bars MUST be removed.

A metal Fin-plate (18” length x 9” height) MUST be bolted to the roof, finished in black background with white numbers.

Brakes MUST lock minimum of 3 of the wheels.

All limbs of drivers are to be covered by appropriate overalls of NON-NYLON material while racing.

Crash Helmets MUST be BSI Approved & have the appropriate ‘Kite’ marking. A Crash Helmet & appropriate eye protection MUST be worn while racing.

A BSI Approved Safety Harness with minimum of 3 fixing points MUST be fitted & used as per manufactures instructions.

Breaking ANY of the Rules in this Formula will result in race &/or meeting bans. Please respect the safety of others competitors & marshals at all times.
